Summer Garba Night By World's Biggest Garba School - Sonis School Of Garba Dance - 'Re-Live Navratri'

Who Said Garba Can Only Be Performed In Navratri? SSGD Introduces ‘Re-Live’ Navratri To Celebrate All Year Round!

The whole world dances on Garba in the nine nights of Navratri. And that remains the perception of the world - that one can do Garba only during Navratri. In the world's biggest dance festival, about a million people participate in Mumbai alone to dance to the devotional songs of the Goddess and folk songs of Gujarat. However, nobody ever said that you only have to dance on Garba tunes just during Navratri.

To beat this notion, world's biggest Garba school - Sonis School Of Garba Dance (SSGD), has for the first time, introduced the concept of 'Re-Live Navratri', where not just students of SSGD but everyone is welcome to be a part of the celebration. This is a fresh change for those who love Garba and Dandiya but only get to dance during Navratri.

Based in Mumbai, founders of SSGD Jigar and Suhrad Soni believe that Garba is just like any folk dance across India and does not need a specific defined time to be danced on. SSGD will be celebrating Ram Navami and Chaitra Navratri in true traditional style in the 'Re-Live Navratri' event on March 25.

About SSGD: Sonis School of Garba Dance, that started about 20 years ago is the world's biggest Garba dance school based in Mumbai. The founders and mentors Jigar and Suhrad have taken it to newer heights by being felicitated at the House of Commons in the UK. The Soni brothers have taught more than 10,000 students so far and aim at increasing the number year after year.

SSGD has been recognized by UNESCO for its contribution to Indian folk dance culture and has performed in United Nations as well. SSGD has its presence worldwide in countries like UK, UAE, Switzerland, Ireland and USA. The Soni brothers were invited to perform at the Trafalgar Square by the current Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. They will be visiting London again to conduct more workshops on demand in UK. They also recently won the Transmedia Gujarati Film awards for the best choreography in the film "Mad For Each Other"

Digital content delivery through technologies like apps and streaming devices has witnessed explosive growth in past few years in India. Availability of inexpensive high speed internet along with a rise in smart devices, investments made by content creators in producing tailor made content for digital platforms have been the core reasons for this meteoric rise.
Whether global or local, whatever the niche or genre, OTT Services has become the centre of attention in the entertainment space and it must become sustainable businesses at some point.
Moderated by Mr. Vynsley Fernandes, Director, Castle Media Pvt Ltd., the members of the panel boasted of Mr. Vivek Couto, Executive Director, Media Partners Asia, Ms. Vidya S. Speaking of OTT in comparison to television, Ms. Vidya S. Nath said that rise in OTT doesn’t mean the death of the Television Industry.
Describing the nature and the adverse effects of digital platforms, Ms. Archana Anand said, “We are always on OTT, while traveling or even while waiting. It’s really about us consuming way more than we ever did before.”
Stressing on regional content market, she further added, “We believe if we could create a platform that really richly serves content, in the language of your comfort, there is a really big market there that is waiting to be captured”
Praising the diversity of India and it’s content creation, Mr. Michael Sturm said, “India is not just about English and Hindi speaking consumers, it has consumers consuming content in many more languages. I think India is the country in the world that produces the most content across the globe.”
Mr. Suhaan Mukherji cautioned saying, “We should be very careful that we just don’t treat OTT or kids movies or IP networks the same way, we treated everything else.”
“The OTT Industry is here to stay.” Concluded Mr. .Vynsley Fernandes

Journalism and Fake News Discussed on Day 2 at FICCI FRAMES 2018

Fake news is a major area of concern for modern democracies like India and there is a need to collectively tackle it through different means.

The Indian Express Executive Editor Anant Goenka said BBC DG Tony Hall had visited the newspaper’s office recently and he stated that the best way to beat fake news is to have more journalists on the ground.

Goenka said The Indian Express is investing to create a network of correspondents to verify facts that emerge from the ground.

Boom managing editor Jency Jacob said that the mainstream media companies are falling prey to the menace of fake news as the traditional gate-keeping is missing.
“Are the people at the desk equipped to understand fake is and genuine news or what is coming from ANI or the agencies can they taken at a face value,” Jacob posed.

He gave the example of a story by ANI that Donkeys were put behind bars in UP which later turned out to be false. However, the story went viral and was picked up by international papers.

On the issue of Hashtag journalism, Medianama editor Nikhil Pahwa said that the main issue facing the website is said the business model which is largely driven by numbers to get more advertising revenue. “It’s a business model problem that is taking us down this path,” he noted.

Mirror Now editor Faye Dsouza concurred with Pahwa. She said that advertisers buy numbers and the quality of content doesn’t matter.

Pahwa further stated that the scale of fake news is humongous due to the increase in connectivity and ease of distribution of content. He also said that Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp need to find ways of addressing the problem.

He also said that the intense personalisation of social media feeds is polarizing the world.

Jamia Millia Islamia Associate Professor Vibodh Parthasarathi said that there is no registration process in setting up a website as opposed to a TV or a newspaper. He said that there is a need to recognise the fact that there is a gap as far as lack of regulation for digital is concerned.

However, the panel was unanimous in its view that there is no need for a regulation for digital.

William Feng, VP- Greater China, MPA gave a presentation on screen density: China Market Development while
Sushil Chaudhary, Founder and CEO, Picturetime spoke about the new business module on screen density that aims at targeting audiences of rural areas.

The DigiPlex mobile theatre vans, run by Picturetime, offer their audiences high-quality movie-viewing experience in the rural areas and is an economical option for the audiences in remote areas to catch up with newly released films.

Charging between Rs 30 from to Rs. 70 each viewer, the DigiPlex first pitches a collapsible all-weather canopy that can accommodate at least 120 viewers.

This can help put up more screens at very low cost as compared to building multiplexes in remote and even urban areas.

"With this module, we are also looking at helping regional cinema and campaigns issued in pubic interest." concluded Chaudhary.

The Stefano Ricci man is a collector, who searches for a taste of true refinement found within every masterpiece in his wardrobe. His motive, retained from the designer’s African dream, envelops and distinguishes the leather jackets, light as clouds; their measured proportions following the lines of the body, the strong and masculine aspects becoming a modern armor.

A classic look enriched with luxury jeans, cool and comfortable sneakers, aligned for daily city life as well as relaxing moments. The colours are sober and classic, so as to be worn even with an outfit broken with an English jacket, tasteful for the countryside gentleman, above a turtleneck sweater in tune with the colour of undergrowth.
