U Mumba Coach E Bhaskaran shares his thoughts on the team ahead of Pro Kabaddi Season 5

The morale of the defence is always high when the raiders are strong” – E. Bhaskaran

At the onset of the fifth season of the Star Sports Vivo Pro Kabaddi, two-time finalists and Season 2 winners U Mumba are sweating it out in Dehradun at their pre-season camp. With a new team and a group of talented youngsters at the helm, Coach E. Bhaskaran who has been a constant in the team, speaks about the advantages and challenges for U Mumba during the upcoming season that will see four new teams contending for the trophy this year.

On being one of the stronger teams in the league:

We will definitely benefit from  being amongst the most successful teams in the league. U Mumba is known for its player selection, training, team management and overall functioning. We have developed a reputation of being able to turn lesser known players into stars through constant encouragement and strong performances, something that was evident right from the beginning of the league. Because of all this, opponents look at us differently- we are seen as a threat. There is automatic pressure on them to try and beat us.

On Anup Kumar as Captain

Anup has led the team ever since U Mumba came into existence.. He has a very different reputation among the teams and players- he is an iconic figure in international Kabaddi now. His nickname also ‘Captain Cool’ also describes how well he copes with pressure  and is calm and collective in even the most stressful of situations on the mat. He leads the team exceedingly well. Other than that, he has also been a great raider through the  seasons which is  an added advantage for us. Having a good captain is very important especially when the players keep changing due to auctions. Given his experience, he plays a key role in grooming the youngsters in our side as well. The Captain and coach coordination which is a key factor in any team sport is very good between Anup and which I feel is very important in the overall dynamic of things.

On player fitness during the extended season

Yes, the season is longer but the good thing is that the recovery period after each match has also significantly increased so it works well. There is time to recover and then concentrate on training again.
Our 20-day  fitness camp held in Dehradun was precisely for this reason too.  We wanted to  ensure that the players are physically fit to go through this long season. Choosing a high altitude destination was also to build their stamina and increase endurance for the league.

On why raiders are crucial to the team

I feel every very team this season has good raiders, including us.  We worked on a strategy and managed to achieve exactly what we wanted in the auction. We have 4 strong raiders who will allow the defence to take risks and go for the kill during each of the opponent’s raid.  The morale of the defence is always high when the raiders are strong.

On the new players

From the 136 players that were a part of the New Young Players’ (NYP) Camp this year, the 3 we selected are within the top 20. We chose defenders because we always need back up for defence, especially for such a long season. They are very energetic, have played in the junior, senior nationals as well as the Federation Cup, so come with some experience under their belt.
Barring Anup and Shabeer, all the remaining players are new to the team. Joginder and Suresh come with a lot of experience. Kuldeep is an excellent all-rounder who can destroy a raider. Hadi as a corner is also very strong. So I can’t really comment on who is the strongest as each of them come with a strong, different skill set.

On changes in training

Conducting a fitness camp Dehradun was one of the first key changes in training this season. The next camp (also in Dehradun) will focus on player to player marking with emphasis on team coordination and technique. Both the camps are aimed at preparing the team for the longer season.

ADPAY selects XIUS as Technology Partner for offering VNO services across India

·         India’s First VNO to be enabled by Globally Renowned VNE Platform

XIUS, a division of Megasoft Limited, today announced signing of a new agreement with ADPAY Mobile Payment for integrating its advanced Mobile Services Platform (MSP) with the digital payment provider's telecom service, AEROVOYCE.

In today’s world, telecom plays a significant role in making life smarter and better. The complementary capabilities of VNOs can enable them to play a pivotal role in achieving the various digital initiatives of the Government of India. AEROVOYCE, which will operate on the VNO model, had formally launched its mobile services a month ago in a tie-up with state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

The cloud-enabled XIUS MSP is designed and developed on a Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Network (SDN) framework. To fulfil AEROVOYCE’s technology and operational needs, XIUS will integrate its MSP with BSNL’s nationwide network. This will further allow VNOs signing up with BSNL even in future, to launch services using XIUS MSP, in a quick ‘plug-n-play’ model without having to worry about high capital expenditure.

G V Kumar, CEO & Managing Director of XIUS said, “We are delighted to partner with AEROVOYCE and will work with them in delivering a broad spectrum of impactful services. The VNO route is a good option for companies to address customers that are underserved. XIUS has enabled millions of subscribers in the mobile operator services’ space and is well positioned to serve AEROVOYCE with their needs. Our global experience, high-end technology systems and end-to-end operational infrastructure will enable VNOs to build and commercialize innovative and attractive services to end users”.

XIUS MSP is a comprehensive solution that is ‘Made in India’ with all components built in-house at the Global Delivery Centre in Hyderabad. The solution is proven across the world with deployments in Europe, USA, Latin America, South East Asia and Middle East. XIUS was instrumental in launching one of the oldest MVNOs, Boost Mobile, USA (now part of Sprint) 14 years ago. It is this versatile experience that makes XIUS the natural choice for large as well as medium sub-base VNOs.

“ADPAY, the first national VNO of Indian Telecom will be spending INR 300 crore in three years on VNO PAN India rollout and plans to rope in at least few million subscribers in rural as well as tier-II and tier-III cities of the country” AEROVOYCE Founder and Chief Executive, Sivakumar Kuppusamy  said. “A highly dependable technology offering and globally proven operational expertise were the key criteria considered while selecting XIUS. XIUS has deep expertise and several years of experience in deploying telecom and VNO solutions across the globe and this will definitely help AEROVOYCE to offer the best user experience to its subscribers”, he added.

AEROVOYCE selecting XIUS as the preferred VNE partner comes at a time when XIUS was already making long-drawn plans for investments in its drive to support the Digital India initiative. Apart from offering their technology, XIUS has assembled a ‘One-Stop Shop’ team of companies that offer VNOs the best chance of success.

As Virtual Network Operator (VNO), companies buy airtime and bandwidth in bulk from existing operators and then offer services under their brand. This model would offer consumers more choices for voice and data services and allows existing Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) additional options to monetize unused spectrum.

The films trailer which has organically clocked over 10 million views has won the love of masses and the critics. However, the move to a new date comes with a special blessing. I am really hoping that he gets parole at the time. I want the world to see the film and know the real daddy who has been our pillar of strength for so many years. I wanted them to release the film in September instead. "

Geeta adds , "To see Daddy in person and on screen is very different. We cannot wait for the movie and are overwhelmed by the trailer. Arjun and Ashim have shown every aspect of our fathers life in this movie. We have no words to describe what we are going through. Over the last 3 years, Arjun has really understood my father and I really respect that he has kept his feelings in mind and made this movie while staying true to the ups and downs that he has endured in his life."

Geeta feels that for her father it will also be auspicious to release Daddy in the midst of the Ganesh festival - an event that has been very close to Arun Gawli's heart. While all these films are best in their respective genres, the festival has shortlisted the top 10 highly recommended films to look forward:

THE FAKIR OF VENICE: The 8th edition of Jagran Film Festival opens with the World Premiere of an Indian film starring Farhan Akhtar and Annu Kapoor, ‘The Fakir of Venice. To pull it off, however, they must learn to shed the layers of deceit, and move towards understanding themselves, and each other.

TOPE (THE BAIT): A film by one of India’s top film maker, Buddhadeb Dasgupta is yet another treat to be looked forward to. ‘Tope’ (The Bait) is based on a macabre short story by Narayan Bandyopadhyay, which Dasgupta first earmarked for adaptation over a decade ago, but which initially proved too blunt and spare for his maximalist magic-realist style. Deep in the wilds of rural Bengal, eccentric faded aristocrat Raja is living in palatial splendor with his voluptuous mistress Rekha but their relationship is clearly doomed. While both appear stranded in antique fantasy versions of India, the arrival of a modern film crew from Kolkata with their laptops and digital cameras, enlisting Raja to help them track down a tiger for a documentary project, comes as a mild shock. A former postman Goja has seemingly lost his mind and reinvented himself as a tree-dwelling soothsayer and Munni is a pre-teen nomad girl who earns a meager living for her impoverished lower-caste parents with her dazzling public displays of tightrope walking. All these narrative threads initially unfold separately, then cross and intertwine.

HORSES OF GOD: After a stint in prison, a young man (Abdelilah Rachid) becomes a violent Islamic fundamentalist and recruits his younger brother (Abdelhakim Rachi) and the youth's best friend (Hamza Souidek) to his cause. Nabil Ayoush mesmerizes the audience in this film with his versatile portrayal of the mindset of suicide bombers.  A winner at the Cannes and Rotterdam Film Festivals, ‘Horses of God’ is a must watch at the festival.

PURPPLE HORIZONS: Meryem 25, lost her family members because of sinking the migrant boat in the Aegean Sea near Bodrum Kos Island while trying to escape the war of Aleppo Syria. Orphan İbrahim retires and marries Meryem, the same year and settles down in the Bozdoğan Town of Aegean. The film follows Meryem’s life torn between her new husband and her old dead family. A film with a contemporary subject has been to at least a dozen top international film festivals.

BRAVO VIRTUOSO: Winner at several film festivals, Bravo Virtuoso is a weird tale of Alik, a young virtuoso clarinetist of a classical orchestra is forced to accept contracts intended for a hired killer, called the ‘Virtuoso’ to save his orchestra. Alik however is a musician and not a murderer.

GOLDEN FIVE: Another top rated film at the festival is ‘Golden Five from Macedonia. Maki, Kata and Jiji are loyal friends who believe in their youthful ideals. However, when Maki and Kata announce their engagement, Jiji becomes jealous. In the period of communist liquidations, there is an unsolved murder of five students, one of them being Maki. 65 years later, Alavantie, as a witness and a researcher, returns to his homeland with the “Golden Five” dossier. His secrets and knowledge bring additional tension in Kata’s and Jiji’s married life.

DOCTOR RAKHMABAI: Director Anant Mahadevan has not only been prolific but also highly creative in delineating biographical. His latest ‘Doctor Rakkhmabai’ is based on the story of Rukhmabai, or Rakhmabai an Indian woman who became one of the first practicing woman doctors in colonial India. She was also at the heart of a landmark legal case which led to the enactment of the Age of Consent Act, 1891. The film traces the journey of this courageous woman brilliantly. Tanishtha Chatterjee plays the lead role in the film.

Mr. KABAADI: Another film not to be missed at the Festival, is the last film of Actor Om Puri. Directed by his wife Seema Kapoor, the film is a satire and would be screened as the Closing Film of the Festival.

CHAUSAR: Sagar Sarhadi directed ‘Chausar’ has its world premiere at the Festival. The first feature film of Actor Nawzuddin Siddiqui is produced by Shyam Swami. Part of the special section ‘Cinema out of the box’, the film is awaiting its release. The Festival presents this yet unseen work of the maestro Sarhadi.

TRAPPED: Vikramaditya Motwane and Actor Rajkumar Rao come together to create an unusual blend of storytelling in a one character film. A man gets stuck in an empty high rise without food, water or electricity is the smallest possible one liner of the film. The way the Director- Actor duo keep the audience glued to the screen is a treat to the eye.

The Festival will begin on July 01, 2017 in Delhi’s posh socio-cultural hub and centre, the Siri Fort Auditorium. Over 130 screenings will be showcased that includes a stellar a line-up of films from across the world.  Some of the prominent sections of the Festival are World Panorama, Indian Showcase, Jagran Shorts, Jagran Discovery, Country Focus and the Retrospective of films.
